A Kinesthetic Journey Through the Psalms

Explore a series of movements based on the gestures found in "At Psalms School".

"A Kinesthetic Journey Through the Psalms" explores a series of movements based on the gestures found in "At Psalms School," a book by John D. Witvliet, Maria Eugenia Cornou, and Joel Schoon-Tanis. With so much turmoil and tension in our world, it is easy to ask whether the Psalms are even relevant today. If we are to believe that the Psalter still has a lot to offer us, how might we connect with words written centuries ago, and how are those words relevant to the major issues we face today? Through simple movement and gesture we can begin to connect with the Psalms and to embody what each expresses.

This video has three sections designed to help you journey through "lament", "remembrance", and "restoration". Each of the three sections contains five poses. As you watch the video, consider which poses help you express the sentiments found in the psalms. Experiment with pairing different movements together as you enter into the journey of each psalm. May God bring you revelation and restoration on your journey.
