What we did

Created a video and workbook exploring a series of movements based on the gestures found in the book "At Psalms School".

Project Overview

As one of the authors of "At Psalms School", Calvin Institute of Christian Worship's Director Dr. John Witvliet had the vision to bring to life the gestures that make up the heart of the book. He asked for a video and accompanying workbook that would demonstrate the gestures in action. After receiving the brief, I thought through ways to connect the gestures. In the book, they are presented as individual movements. While I recognized this as valuable, I opted to present the movements in three sections: "lament", "remembrance", and "restoration". Each of the three sections contained five poses. The workbook included space for participants to write notes, prayers, doodles, and reflections as they journeyed through the sections.

Dr. Witvliet provided the title for the video and the workbook, "A Kinesthetic Journey Through the Psalms". - Dea Jenkins
