What we did

Led an art workshop for Cyclical Starters.

Project Overview

It was great to start 2022 by leading a group of Los Angeles church planters and community leaders through a guided art workshop. The theme for the workshop was "The Power of Creating in Community". As in all of our workshops, we started with a simple grounding and embodied warm up. After, I invited a member of the group to read a short poem as a way of framing our time together. I then offered a series of prompts that guided each person in their creative expression. We closed with another short poem as a blessing for the year.

In essence, artists and community leaders face many of the same issues - creating and building in isolation. Cyclical, like Dea Studios, is committed to helping leaders build in community, offering an alternative to an otherwise lonely journey.

"Dea did amazing work at coordinating Lenten Gestures.  The reflections and art were not only high quality but reflected a commitment to seize the shifting historical moment that we face."

Juan Sarmiento
Executive presbyter, Presbytery of San Fernando valley

"I am sooo excited to know there are other Christians incorporating movement into their spiritual practices. I think many people are interested in exploring this, but church leaders often hesitate. "
